Kiyomizu Temple is located in eastern Kyoto.
Kiyomizu Temple was extremely crowded with great number of Japanese tourists today.

This temple was designated as one of the seventeen World Cultural Heritage sites in Kyoto.
It is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Japan attracting many visitors every year.

It is very famous for its main hall with a large stage jutting out over the hill side.
You could look over a breathtaking panorama of Kyoto city.
This temple is also famous for its a priceless statue of Kannon Bodhisattva or the goddess of mercy.

Kiyomizu Temple is also famous for its long approach to the temple named Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka which are lined with many souvenir shops.
These slopes or approaches mean two year slope and three year slope or the slope of easy childbirth.

If you go through this slope you will have an easy childbirth.
It is one of the best place to buy traditional Japanese souvenirs in Kyoto.

This temple was originally built by Sakanoueno Tamuramaro in 8th century and rebuilt by the third Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu in 17th century.
