【Fushimi Inari Taisha】
I dropped at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto.
This shrine is head shrine of about 30000 Inari Shrine all over Japan. It was built in 711 to enshrine the deity of rice. Originally the deity of Inari Shrine was revered as the deity of agriculture. With industrialization, the shrine gradually came to be worshiped as the deity of business, too. The shrine is famous for thousands of vermillion Torii gates. In a Hollywood movie titled “Memories of Geisha”, the heroine Geisha ran through these Torii gate tunnels. Thanks to this movie, the shrine is now No1 sightseeing spot for foreign tourists in Japan. I do recommend you enjoy walking through Torii gate tunnels to Mt.Inari in shrine ground.
