Shinkansen Bullet Train

The Shinkansen, colloquially known in English as the bullet train, is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan. There are 7 Shinkansen lines, Tokaido ( Tokyo - Shin Osaka ), Sanyo ( Shin Osaka - Hakata ), Tohoku ( Tokyo- Shin Aomori ) , Joetsu ( Omiya- Niigata ), Hokuriku ( Takasaki - Kanazawa ), Kyushu ( Hakata - Kagoshima Chuo ), Hokkaido ( Shin Aomori - Shin Hakodate Hokuto ).

Ferry

Tokai Kisen runs high speed ferries (jetfoils) between Tokyo's Takeshiba Ferry Terminal and Izu Oshima (about two hours, around 7,000-7,500 yen one way, two departures per day)
